Woman Hit by Car, Killed while Checking Mail between Canby and O.C.

An Oregon City woman died Thursday night after she was struck by a car while crossing a street near Highway 99E north of Canby, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened on South End Road, between Canby and Oregon City, around 6:25 p.m. Authorities believe that Sherry Kehoe-Medhaug, 68, was going to check her mailbox when a truck hit and severely injured her.

Paramedics with American Medical Response arrived on scene to provide treatment to Kehoe-Medhaug, who was then loaded into an ambulance, but died before she could be transported to a hospital.

The driver involved stayed at the scene of the crash and cooperated with the investigation. The sheriff’s office said they did not show signs of impairment when they were interviewed.

In a release, authorities noted that the road was wet at the time of the crash, and the sun had set nearly two hours prior. The case remains under investigation.

South End Road at Rocky Bluff Lane and Highway 99E was closed for about two hours while authorities investigated.
