Woman Cited for Altercation at Pop-Up Flag Stand on Highway 99E

A Canby woman faces criminal charges for an altercation Tuesday afternoon in which she allegedly damaged flags and other merchandise at a pop-up vendor at Highway 99E and North Redwood Street near Fred Meyer.

The temporary stand was selling American flags, Thin Blue Lives flags and other banners aimed at politically conservative consumers, bearing slogans such as “Trump 2020” and “Fuck Biden.”

Canby Police Capt. Jose Gonzalez told The Canby Current that several witnesses reported seeing the female suspect, whom he did not identify, behaving erratically and damaging property belonging to the stand owner shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The investigation resulted in her being issued citations for second-degree criminal mischief — a class A misdemeanor involving damage of property valued at $500 or more — and disorderly conduct.

Officers also determined during the investigation that the vendor was selling merchandise on private property without permission and was asked to leave by the property owner.
