Vancouver Man Dies in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Eagle Creek

A Vancouver, Washington, man was killed and another driver flown to the hospital Wednesday after a crash on Highway 224 in Clackamas County.

The crash was reported shortly before 6 a.m. along the Clackamas Highway near the Eagle Creek community and the junction with Highway 211.

Initial reports indicated Miguel B. Adams, 22, of Vancouver, was driving a Volkswagen Golf east on the highway when he went into the westbound lane and hit a Toyota Tacoma, operated by 26-year-old Matthew D. Stenhouse, head-on.

The VW spun after the collision and was struck in the passenger side door by a Kia K5, driven by 22-year-old Ryan Michael Payne, of Portland, which was also eastbound on Clackamas Highway.

Adams, whom officials said was not wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stenhouse was transported by Life Flight helicopter to a local hospital, Oregon State Police said. Payne declined medical treatment, OSP said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and is undetermined at this time. The crash scene investigation impacted the roadway for approximately four hours.

OSP was assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Clackamas Fire District and ODOT.
