Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car on Highway 99E in Early Morning Crash

A pedestrian was killed in an early morning crash on Highway 99E in Canby Thursday, near the Molalla River bridge and Dick’s Canby Ford.

According to Oregon State Police, which investigated the incident, 48-year-old Jeremy Hofman was struck by a northbound Toyota Corolla at just before 4:30 a.m.

Officials at the scene said the driver, 20-year-old Alexis Moncrief, of Salem, was commuting to work when Hofman “ran in front of her car.”

Hofman was transported by air ambulance to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Moncrief was not injured.

Highway 99E was closed for approximately three hours while the Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the scene.

OSP was assisted by Canby Police Department, Canby Fire District, Life Fight Network and ODOT.

Another fatal crash in Clackamas County occurred around 2:30 the following day, Friday the 26th, on Highway 26 just east of Sandy.

Preliminary investigation by OSP revealed a westbound red Honda Accord, operated by 43-year-old Ryan Martin, of Hillsboro, crossed into oncoming lanes and struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The adult male operator of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will be released pending next of kin notification, authorities said.

Impairment is being investigated as a contributing factor. OSP was assisted by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Sandy Fire Department, AMR, and ODOT.
