Pedestrian Killed Attempting to Cross I-205 Early Monday Morning

A pedestrian was struck and killed while reportedly attempting to cross Interstate 205 north of Oregon City and West Linn early Monday morning.

Oregon State Police say the pedestrian was headed east across I-205 near exit 12A (Damascus) when he was hit by a 2019 Ford cargo van driven by 56-year-old Donald resident Steven Stewart. The crash occurred at approximately 5:05 a.m.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified pending notification of his next of kin.

Stewart remained on the scene following the crash and is cooperating with investigators, police say.

I-205 northbound was closed several hours while police investigated. OSP was assisted by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Clackamas County Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
