Oregon City Horse Trainer, Former Olympian Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

An Oregon City man who is also a prominent horse trainer and former Olympian equestrian was arrested Monday for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Richard Rankin Fellers, 61, faces four counts of second-degree sexual abuse. He was arrested by Tualatin Police and is in the custody of the Washington County Jail.

According to police, investigators began looking into Feller’s abuse of a 17-year-old girl several months ago and have interviewed witnesses in multiple states.

Feller was the girl’s horse trainer, and police said they believe the abuse took place at her apartment in Portland.

The initial complaint was made by the U.S. Center for SafeSport. Feller competed in two events in the 2012 Summer Olympics, and police said he is well-known in the equestrian industry.
