Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting During Domestic Violence Call in Clackamas County

A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting with Clackamas County deputies Saturday night, following a domestic disturbance 911 call in an unincorporated urban areas between Milwaukie and Oak Grove.

Just before 10 p.m. Saturday, deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a gun at a single-family residence located near SE Briggs St. and SE Evergreen St. in unincorporated Clackamas County

Deputies were advised there were three adults in the home: the male subject (whom police have not yet identified) his wife and her adult son. According to police, the male subject had been causing a disturbance that led to the 911 call just before 9:50 p.m.

Deputies were also advised the male subject had beeb displaying a gun, the son had also armed himself with a pistol, and all three were inside the house together, according to the release from Clackamas County.

‘As deputies arrived at the scene, they believed they heard a gunshot come from inside the house,” the release said. “Deputies established phone contact with the family inside.”

Outside the residence, deputies heard what appeared to be sounds of the situation escalating. They entered the home, where they were confronted by the male subject, holding a gun according to the CCSO. The man was shot by three deputies.

Deputies administered first aid and paramedics were called to the scene, but the man was declared dead.

The Clackamas County Inter-agency Major Crimes Team, Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office detectives and crime scene investigators, and a Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner responded to the scene to investigate.

The involved deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard practice following an officer-involved shooting. Their names have also not been released at this time.

Two chaplains from Public Safety Chaplaincy responded to the scene to offer assistance to the wife and her son.
