Firefighters Rescue Parachutist Stuck in Tree Near Mulino

Small-town firefighters are known for their prowess in plucking pets from high places, but first responders had a far more serious situation on their hands Friday as they worked to rescue a stranded parachutist stuck 40 feet up a tree west of Mulino.

Crews with Clackamas and Molalla Fire responded to reports of a person trapped high in a tree just before 5 p.m. in the 26000 block of Airport Road.

The location was just north of Mulino State Airport and the Pacific Northwest Skydiving Center, but officials did not say if the incident was connected, nor did they identify the victim, whose parachute had gotten tangled in a pair of dead but still standing trees near a series of outbuildings.

Firefighters used the aerial ladder of Clack Fire’s Truck T316 to rescue the parachutist, who was not injured.
