Driver Killed in Early Morning Police Pursuit Between Molalla and Mulino

It has been a tough week for Canby area first responders, and sadly, the hits kept coming early Friday morning.

The driver and sole occupant of a green pickup was killed in a crash shortly after midnight on S. Highway 213 near Union Mills Road after attempting to flee a traffic stop.

Molalla Police Lt. Chris Long said the pursuit began at approximately 12:19 a.m. this morning, when an officer stopped a green pickup in the city of Molalla for erratic driving. Shortly after being contacted, the suspect fled northbound on Cascade Highway.

Molalla PD pursued the vehicle for several miles until it crashed near Union Mills. Long said the driver was found dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

Molalla Police has declined to identify the driver, pending notifications to their next of kin.
