Crash Near Hubbard Leaves Passenger in Critical Condition

An early morning crash near Hubbard Tuesday left one passenger in critical condition. Police say drug impairment, specifically marijuana, may have been a factor.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports the single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 3:49 a.m. in the 11000 block of Feller Rd NE, near the I-5 overpass west of Hubbard.

Life Flight was requested and transported the passenger to a Portland-area hospital, where they remain in critical condition as of 8 a.m. this morning. The driver was taken by ambulance to a Salem-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash and said marijuana use has not been ruled out as a possible contributing factor. Feller Road was closed several hours while emergency crews worked the scene, reopening just before 8 a.m.

A determination regarding charges will be made after additional investigation has been completed. The driver and passenger’s names have not yet been released

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Hubbard Police Department, METCOM 911, Aurora Fire District, Woodburn Ambulance, Life Flight, and the Marion County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance.
