City of Canby Sets Free Leaf Drop-Off Event for December 3

With trees across the county doing their annual shedding routine, the City of Canby Public Works Department has announced plans for a free leaf drop-off event next month.

The drop-off will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, December 3, at the Canby Public Works facility, located at 1470 North Territorial Road.

Public Works will accept leaves only — no sticks or yard debris. Loose leaves will be accepted from trailers or truck beds or bagged in biodegradable, paper bags.

Public Works Director Jerry Nelzen said the city is excited to offer the opportunity to Canby residents.

“Mayor Brian Hodson has been a great supporter of these efforts and has remained diligent about reminding the community to not blow leaves into the streets,” Nelzen said in a press release. “The leaf drop-off day allows the city to remain good stewards of those efforts.”

Beginning Monday, November 7, through December 22, the Public Works Department will also accept weekday leaf drop-offs by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, contact Ronda Rozzell at 503-266-0798 or rozzellr@canbyoregon.gov.

“The City of Canby is eager to be responsive to all of our residents,” said Jeff Snyder, City of Canby public works supervisor. “We hope the residents utilize this leaf drop-off program in an effort to mitigate flooding and reduce overtime due to blocked drains, property damage, and ongoing issues.”

The leaf drop-off event and weekday leaf drop-off are for Canby residents only — no businesses or contractors. Proof of residency within Canby city limits will be required.
