Once again, the Canby Area Chamber is looking to bring out the best in Canby.
After a successful rollout in 2019, the chamber is bringing back its “Best of Canby” survey, with 25 new categories to celebrate excellence in the local business community.
“We wanted to rotate categories every other year to keep people engaged and represent as many industries and sectors as we could,” Executive Director Kyle Lang told The Canby Current.
The only award that is a rerun is Best Overall Community Service — and there’s a reason for that.
“We really want that to be the big award that we do every year,” Lang explained. “We want our businesses to chase that one. If I were a business owner, I’d be marketing on social media, telling my employees and my customers, ‘Hey — this is the one we really want.'”
New categories include Best New Business (can be any business that opened since 2019, due to the Covid hiatus), Best Agritourism Destination, Best Apartment Living, Best Cocktail, Best Law Office, Best Local Manufacturer, Best Mortgage Company, Best Sandwich, Best Wedding Venue and Canby’s Best Kept Secret.
As you can see, some categories aren’t even specifically business-related, likes Best Coach or Best Community Volunteer, but instead highlight broader examples of all that the Canby community has to offer.
The survey, which is open until April 18 at bit.ly/bestofcanby2021, will culminate in a new publication from the chamber, the 2021 Insider’s Guide to Canby, which will feature not only the winners but also local history, events info, food features, and more.
