The annual food drive put on by the Canby Post Office and National Association of Letter Carriers was held this weekend, in which postal workers collect yellow bags filled with nonperishable food items to benefit The Canby Center.
The drive is known by the name “Stamp Out Hunger,” and folks in Canby certainly gave it their best shot, donating 8,570 pounds of food — over 500 more than the previous year.
Ray Keen, director of The Canby Center, expressed his gratitude to the community in a short video posted to Facebook Saturday night.
He also thanked the Rotary Club of Canby, who certainly did their part, collecting and processing the more than four tons of food dropped off at The Canby Center throughout the day.
Those who were not able to take part may still bring their yellow bags full of nonperishable food items to The Canby Center this week.
