Canby Police’s Third Annual ‘Grill & Chill’ Set for August 1

The Canby Police Department will be firing up the barbecues for its third annual Grill & Chill event next month in conjunction with National Night Out.

The free, family-friendly event will feature free food, fun and demonstrations of police equipment and techniques and will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, at the Canby Police Department, located at 1175 Northwest Third Avenue.

“We are excited to have our third annual Grill & Chill event this year on National Night Out,” said Canby Police Chief Jorge Tro. “This is our way of saying ‘Thank you’ to this great and supportive community. Come by and meet your Canby police officers! Hope to see you there!”

The night’s menu will feature hot dogs grilled up by Canby’s finest, along with free Kona Ice.

Activities will include face painting, a photo booth and the eve-popular “dunk-a-cop” in the dunk tank. Live music will be provided, courtesty Canby Music employees.

The event’s business sponsors and supporting organizations include the Canby Police Association, Cutsforth’s Market, Canby Fred Meyer, Canby Kiwanis Club, Canby Music and Kona Ice.

National Night Out is an annual event on the first Tuesday in August, created to foster quality relationships between police and those they serve in an effort to strengthen relationships and the community overall.
