The Cougar girls basketball team dropped their season opener on the road to Forest Grove, but they kept things close enough to have fans of the fourth-ranked Vikings biting their fingernails until the last whistle. Final score: 40-35.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, as the girls host their home opener against visiting Mountainside, while the boys head to Grants Pass for their first road game of the season. Tip-off at Canby High School is at 7 p.m. Go Cougars!
