Boys Soccer Stumbles Against McKay in 1-4 Loss

Canby boys soccer fell to a tough McKay team in its 2021 season debut Thursday. The Scots jumped ahead early and never looked back, defeating the Cougars 1-4.

The Scots jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, dominating the possession. Canby’s lone goal came late in the first half to close the gap to 3-1. McKay followed this with a quick goal five minutes into the second half and ended up coasting for the rest of the game.

Head coach Ryan McCormack’s squad for the Cougars is fielding a bevy of upperclassmen this season, 18 in total, and will try to get back in the swing of things after a strange 2020 season. The Cougs played in only nine games last season during their abbreviated March campaign.

This loss drops the Cougars’ record to 0-1. Next up for Canby is a home match against Southridge on Sept. 9th, with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.
