A woman has been arrested as the suspect in a shooting that left two dead late Saturday in an apartment complex near Happy Valley.
Deputies responded at about 11:13 p.m. to a report of a shooting at the Reflections apartment complex at 8800 S.E. Causey Loop, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said.
They were told a suspect was seen fleeing on foot after shooting two people inside an apartment.
The two victims — later identified as Jerry Dale Burns, 56, of Milwaukie, and Connor James Gaines, 25, of Happy Valley — were dead when deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said.
A search of the area for the shooter with the assistance of an Oregon City K-9 unit was unsuccessful.
Police identified 39-year-old Amanda Kate Gregson as a suspect.
Gregson was found early Sunday morning when deputies responded to a welfare check at 1:47 a.m., the sheriff’s office said.
She was arrested without incident from the Monarch Hotel on 12566 S.E. 93rd Ave., about a mile from the apartment complex where the shooting took place. Deputies and the K-9 officer searched her room for possible evidence.
Gregson booked in the Clackamas County Jail without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
No other information has been released due to the active investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
