A juvenile driver was lucky to have walked away from a one-vehicle crash on South Barlow Road early Saturday morning after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response-Multnomah County and Monitor Fire District reported to the scene just before 4 a.m.
The driver, who was not identified, complained of pain and was transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
Deputies investigated and ruled out impairment, officials said. The driver reportedly told officers he had fallen asleep behind the wheel.
On Twitter, the sheriff’s office recognized the support of Monitor Fire, which is staffed entirely by volunteers.
“Thank you for your assistance, your hard work and dedication to your community!” the sheriff’s office tweeted.
