Two people were seriously injured in a head-on collision that occurred on Highway 99E between Canby and Oregon City Wednesday afternoon.
According to the preliminary investigation by Oregon State Police, 36-year-old Milwaukie resident Hosein Reslmn was travelling northbound on Highway 99E when his Toyota Tacoma crossed the center line, hitting a southbound Jeep Commander operated by Lucia Smith, 28, of Hermiston. Both drivers suffered serious injuries. Reslmn was transported by Life Flight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, and Smith was transported to OHSU by ambulance.
Highway 99E was closed for approximately three and a half hours following the crash, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m.
Oregon State Police reported receiving a driving complaint about Reslmn, immediately prior to the report of the crash. Capt. Tim Fox, a spokesman for the Oregon State Police, confirmed Thursday that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this incident.
OSP was assisted by Oregon City Police Department, Canby Police Department, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Canby Fire District and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
