A portion of SE 1st Avenue in the Canby Pioneer Industrial Park will close for repaving this week.
The stretch between Hazel Dell Way and Mulino Road is scheduled to be closed for one week starting this Friday, March 27, according to Clackamas County. It is anticipated to fully reopen by April 3.
While the road will be closed to through traffic, there will be access for local traffic and emergency vehicles. The road will reopen each evening from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Detour signs have been posted. Travelers are asked to slow down, follow the detour and use caution near the work zone.
Project updates will be posted at www.bit.ly/roadClosures.
The project comes amid rising concerns from local residents about the impact Columbia Distributing’s new facility, and other large industrial projects, will have on Canby’s roads.
A new outlet road from the industrial park is in the works, which would extend Walnut Road north to connect with Highway 99E and bypass Hazel Dell Way altogether, but it is still years away from becoming a reality. Columbia Distributing is expected to come fully online by the end of the year.
