Rep. Christine Drazan, the Republican lawmaker representing Canby, has announced the committees she will be serving on in the interim between legislative sessions.
They are the Joint Interim Committee on Ways and Means, the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Education, the House Committees on Health Care and Economic Development, as well as the Emergency Board.
The appointments will give the first-term lawmaker a seat at the table in crafting the state’s budget, as well as afford her opportunities to improve access to health care, support workforce development and bolster family wage jobs statewide, she says.
The Emergency Board and Joint Committee on Ways and Means work in tandem to maintain a
balanced budget throughout the interim, which is mandated by Oregon’s Constitution.
“This historically strong economy provides an important opportunity to fund critical programs, while still setting aside reserves for a rainy day,” Rep. Drazan says.
Interim committees meet quarterly during Legislative Days. The next round of Legislative Days will be held Sept. 16th through the 18th.
