Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City is re-opening its golf course, driving range and golf carts to the public effective this Friday, with extra precautions and restrictions to help ensure the safety of staff and patrons.
All buildings, including the Pro Shop, Event Center and food and beverage services, will remain closed to the public, and the club advised that there will be monitors on site “to help enforce the six-foot distancing guidelines.”
“I have been in contact with members of the golf community both within Oregon and around the country, and we are adopting the procedures that most golf courses have used to successfully re-open,” said Gordon Tolbert, owner of TGMS, which runs Stone Creek.
Other area golf clubs, like Willamette Valley Country Club, Frontier Golf Course and Langdon Farms, never closed their courses, though they, too, have taken extra precautions, such as locking clubhouses and other facilities.
In addition to a deep cleaning of all of buildings, equipment and materials, Stone Creek is also taking special precautions, such as asking patrons to pay online or with a credit card (cash will only be accepted if no other means of payment is available) and allowing only one rider per golf cart.
To increase safety on the driving range, tee markers have been spaced eight feet apart, and baskets and balls are being sanitized before and after each use. To limit points of contact, sections of pool noodles have been placed in holes to prevent balls from falling in the cup (asked if my short game needed any other barriers).
Staff will be required to wear gloves and “highly encouraged” to wear masks, Stone Creek reports, which is in line with OSHA guidelines. Patrons will also be encouraged to wear masks and wash their hands often.
