Oregon City Police are on the lookout for a man who robbed two coffee stands at gunpoint Saturday night while wearing a heavily taped motorcycle helmet as a disguise.
The suspect’s first hit was at Black Rock Coffee in the 1800 block of Molalla Avenue at approximately 7:20 p.m. A half-hour later, he robbed the Dutch Bros. on Main Street in downtown Oregon City.
In both cases, the man appeared at the walk-up window, brandished what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from the employees.
He was described as a male between 5-6 and 5-10 in height and wearing a black jacket with white writing, a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
His most distinctive feature was the black motorcycle helmet, adorned with an X marked in white tape and black mesh to obscure his face, similar to a fencing helmet or — as one commenter pointed out in the OCPD’s Facebook post — the sinister masks worn by guards in the hit Netflix survival drama Squid Game.
In that same post, an employee of Keller’s Coffee Co. in Mulino said they were also robbed around 8 a.m. Saturday morning and that it appeared to have been perpetrated by the same suspect.
Authorities did not say how much cash the bandit made away with in the string of robberies.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Oregon City Police tip line at 503-905-3505 and refer to case no. 22-001258.
