A fatal crash occurred on Highway 211 outside of Molalla Friday — the second on that stretch of roadway in less than two weeks.
The crash involved two vehicles and occurred around 4:30 p.m. March 1 just east of Molalla.
According to Oregon State Police, 75-year-old Maurice Deets, of Colton, was driving a 2012 Subaru Legacy northbound on Highway 211 when, for unknown reasons, he crossed over the center line and into the southbound lane, striking headlong into a 1998 Dodge 2500, operated by 48-year-old Woodburn resident Beverly Parker.
A passenger of the Subaru, identified as 49-year-old Matthew Deets, of Colton, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Maurice Deets was airlifted to a trauma hospital in Portland for critical injuries. Parker sustained minor injuries and declined transport to a hospital.
Highway 211 was closed for approximately five and a half hours, while OSP worked the scene, assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Molalla Police Department, Molalla Fire Department, AMR, Life Flight, and ODOT.
Another fatal crash had occurred on Highway 211 just three days earlier and a few miles down the road. Jacob Slinkard, 28, also of Colton was killed on Feb. 26 when his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree.
