The lost dog who captured the hearts of many a Canby resident this week with the story of his daring rescue from a steep and dangerous hillside in Village on the Lochs has a name (Chase) and an owner. And thanks to the work of the Oregon Humane Society and Clackamas County Dog Services, he’s now back home, safe and sound.
Clackamas County reports that Chase’s owner, who had been unable to find him after he disappeared nine days ago, arrived Wednesday morning at the Clackamas County dog shelter to be reunited with her dog. The owner purchased a new dog tag and plans to have Chase microchipped at the county’s monthly clinic on July 27, just in case he catches the wandering bug again.
Prior to his rescue on Monday, Chase spent an estimated eight days on the steep, bramble and poison oak-infested hillside in Village on the Lochs, a manufactured home neighborhood in south Canby near the Molalla River.
He was rescued by an Oregon Humane Society Emergency Animal Rescue (OHSTAR) Team led by the amazing Virginia Krakowiak.
In the event that the owner didn’t come forward, a number of families had already volunteered to adopt Chase, including pretty much the entire population of Village on the Lochs. “He won the hearts of many,” Krakowiak said of Chase.
