A man was injured after falling from a balcony at a large Halloween party on South Leland near Beavercreek Road Saturday night, authorities report.
Deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location at around 11:30 p.m. on reports that a large party was being held at the home, with approximately 150 to 200 people in attendance, and that a person had been hurt.
When officers arrived on the scene, a patrol sergeant estimated that only about 50 to 75 people were there — many in costume — with several in the process of leaving.
“The party appeared to be breaking up,” said Sgt. Marcus Mendoza, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
The Clackamas Fire District had arrived on the scene and was treating the injured man.
Capt. Brandon Paxton, public information officer for Clack Fire, said the man fell 10 to 12 feet onto concrete and suffered unspecified injuries that paramedics on the scene considered “potentially life-threatening injuries.”
Paxton was unable to provide the man’s age but said he was “in his 20s.”
He was transported to an area trauma center for treatment. Paxton declined to say if the man was impaired by drugs or alcohol. No other injuries were reported.
No citations were issued, but Mendoza said the large gathering was reported to the county health department, per the department’s coronavirus guidelines.
