An Oak Grove family was displaced Saturday after an early morning fire broke out at their home on Southeast Linden Lane.
Clackams Fire crews arrived shortly after 2 a.m. to find a one-story house with flames coming from two rooms and spreading to a covered porch.
Firefighters quickly went to work pulling hose lines to extinguish the fire and searching the building to make sure everyone had evacuated.
Two people, along with a pet dog and rabbit, were able to escape before crews arrived on the scene.
The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes and no injuries have been reported, according to Clack Fire.
The two residents and their pets have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Investigators remained on scene to work to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
Earlier this week, the Canby Fire District was called to a reported fire at the Greenbriar apartment building on South Locust Street, near the Fred Meyer fuel station.
Division Chief Matt English tells the Current the fire broke out in a bathroom shortly after midnight Tuesday morning and may have been caused by a candle near flammable material.
“Canby Engine 361 was the first on scene and extinguished the fire with the attack line,” English said in a text. “We evacuated the adjoining residences until we knew it was safe for them to return to their homes.”
One occupant was treated on scene for minor injuries and did not require transport.
Aurora and Clackamas Fire assisted at the scene, as did Canby chaplain and rehab units.
Firefighters remind residents to have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home and outside of each sleeping area.
