A grand opening event has been set for Aurora’s newest business, which is also one of its most unique: a salon, gift shop and art gallery — combined.
The event will be held at noon Oct. 11 at Blue Alley Salon, Gifts and Galleria, located next to Pheasant Run Winery at the end of Main Street in historic downtown Aurora.
The name was inspired by the alley the salon shares with Pleasant Run — known as the “Blue Bucket Alley,” after one of Aurora’s great mystery writers, whose work is memorialized there.
Owner Ann Ashland Wayne grew up on the family farm east of Woodburn, but has a special connection to Aurora: Her parents’ first date was at a restaurant there 65 years ago.
“I am thrilled beyond my expectations to be a part of this friendly, stylish little community,” she says.
The salon offers spa-style manicures and pedicures, hair styling, cuts and colors. The gift shop features locally made products including soaps, jewelry and T-shirts, while the galleria will showcase selections from local artists.
Wayne is a veteran hairstylist for over 30 years. Longtime clients of hers say her work is “not just a haircut, it’s an experience.” Call to set up an appointment at 503-267-3969, or check them out on Facebook.
