[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a local individual in want of a good time, must attend the second annual Jane Austen Tea & Faire, on tap this weekend in Aurora.
Hosted by Wind Horse Antiques, the event will immerse you in the Regency era world of Jane Austen, and her witty observations of it. There will be four tea seatings, 20-plus Faire vendors, demonstrations, displays, readings and a period-appropriate photo booth.
The two-day event will pinnacle with an elegant Regency Ball in support of the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation. Come dressed in your best period costume or simply admire the many others who will be promenading in the two fabulous indoor venues and throughout downtown Aurora.
The Faire will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $3 with portion supporting the American Legion Veterans Hall. Children 12 and younger are free.
The Regency Tea seatings will be held at 11 and 1 each day at the Legion Hall. Tickets are $28 each and must be purchased in advance online.
Finally, the fabulous ball will be at 5:30 Saturday night in the newly renovated Grand Room of the historical Wilhelm Keil & Company building. The evening will include a Regency buffet, period card games and other entertainment. Tickets for the ball, also available online, are $40. Historical or contemporary formal attire is mandatory, so I guess that rules us out. (Does a sweatshirt count as formal attire, if it’s clean and everything?)
