Plant yourself at the Wild Hare Saloon in Canby this Wednesday, Feb. 19, to support a very special “frondraiser,” with proceeds going toward the Canby High School Theater Department and their brand-new production Little Shop of Horrors.
For this dine-in-only fundraiser, the restaurant will donate 20 percent of proceeds from any items purchased from a special, Little Shop-themed menu, and don’t worry: You’re not on it.
Instead, it will include unique offerings you can’t normally find at the Wild Hare, such as the “Audrey II” Burger, a grilled beef patty with peanut butter, bacon and dill pickles (hey — don’t knock it till you try it!); the “Feed Me, Seymor” Seafood Platter, a smorgasbord of fried calamari, scallops and jumbo prawns; and — and our personal favorite — the “Mean Green Mother from Outer Space,” an ice cream sandwich made from homemade chocolate chip cookies and mint chocolate ice cream.
If nothing on there catches your fancy, there will still be ways to support the cause. Souvenir “Audrey II” planters will be for sale, and, of course, donations of any size will be accepted.
Though the special menu and fundraiser goes from open to close, there will be a special treat at about 6 p.m. that day, as the Little Shop of Horrors cast drops by for live performances of musical selections from the show.
Canby High’s dedicated theater troop is seeking community support as they continue to petition the school district for increased funding for the arts, including a full-time theater teacher and dedicated theater classes.
