This year, Canby military veterans of all branches will hold their Inaugural Veterans Day Celebration. It will commence at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at the Canby Vietnam Era Veterans Memorial on Highway 99E. The event will recognize the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. Dignitaries will be in attendance.
Following the event, a free luncheon will take place at the American Legion Hall, 424 NW 1st Ave. This event is open to the public and the whole community is invited.
Also that day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunshine Athletics is hosting a Warriors Workout of the Day and Tire Flip Challenge to honor vets “with a little sweat.” Participants will be flipping tires across downtown Canby and will also have the opportunity to add the name of their favorite veteran to Sunshine’s Wall of Heroes.
Double Aught Ranch will host its annual Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 10 starting at 9 p.m. “We believe in honoring our men and women who serve and have served our country,” owner Claude DaCorsi said.
One of the highlights will be the raffle of a 6.5 Creedmore AR-10, with all of the proceeds benefiting veterans. Winner announced at midnight. Live music by Generator.
The Aurora Colony Pub is also celebrating vets a day early, in partnership with Howard’s Barbershop and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association to help raise money for veteran families for the holiday season.
The Pub will be hosting a fundraising event on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. The event will include raffles, live music and a pool tournament, as well as a cornhole tournament if the weather cooperates. Drink specials for all veterans who attend.
The event will also kick off a toy drive, also benefiting veteran families. Toys will be accepted at both the Pub and Howard’s Barbershop.
