The first ever Canby Children’s Summit was held Wednesday at Ackerman Center, bringing together over 50 community members and over 20 organizations that serve local children and families in various ways.
The lead organizer was Canby Kiwanis. President Tony Crawford opened the meeting and explained why everyone was there.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss children’s services and programs in Canby ā what we’re doing right and what could be improved. Canby School District Superintendent Trip Goodall reminded the participants that children’s needs often go beyond just the physical.
The next step will be to hear from the kids themselves, with a survey of Canby students from third grade through high school. The results will be analyzed in preparation for another meeting with the summit participants and other community stakeholders, likely this May.
