Clackamas Community College’s (CCC) Theatre Department opens the spring main stage May 23 with its production of the award-winning play And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank.
This multimedia play weaves videotaped interviews of concentration camp survivors Ed and Eva, with live actors recreating scenes from their lives. Ed and Eva knew Anne Frank before her family went into hiding. Ed was Anne’s boyfriend, and Eva was her childhood friend who lived in the same apartment building in Amsterdam. Part oral history and part dramatic adaptation, prepare to be transported on a unique theatrical journey.
Directed by Julie Akers, And Then They Came for Me features a dynamic ensemble of CCC students and community members with scenic and lighting design by Chris Whitten and costumes by Gina Piva.
An opening night reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, with music by the CCC Jazz Combo under the direction of Music Department Chair Lars Campbell. Refreshments will be served.
And Then They Came for Me runs May 23 to June 2, Thursdays through Saturdays, at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. All performances are in the Niemeyer Osterman Theatre on the CCC campus in Oregon City.
