Starting next week, operators of the Canby Ferry will reinstate the practice of providing cash change to riders.
Previously, riders who paid in cash would be offered $5 prepaid fares in lieu of change. But, starting March 15, cash change will be back, and operators will no longer hand out the $5 prepaid fares, the county announced this week.
The county also said the ferry plans to maintain its “winter” operating hours throughout 2021 because of low ridership after 7 p.m.
The Canby Ferry crosses the Willamette River between Canby and Wilsonville. The ferry runs seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. except on major holidays and when the water level rises to 70 feet or higher, or during inclement weather.
