Christine Drazan, the state representative from Canby who is in first term serving in the Oregon Legislature, has been chosen to lead the House Republican caucus next year. She will succeed Rep. Carl Wilson, of Grants Pass.
“It is an honor and privilege to be selected by my colleagues to lead our caucus into 2020,” Drazan said. “We appreciate the service of Rep. Wilson as our leader during one of the most challenging periods in Oregon legislative history. We cannot thank him enough for his dedicated years of service to our caucus and the residents of Oregon.”
Rep. Drazan said in a press release that House Republicans will prioritize making a positive difference in the lives of all Oregonians.
“Hard-working Oregonians must always be our priority,” she said. “We are committed to supporting and serving the interests of families and communities while making Oregon more affordable.“
Rep. Daniel Bonham (R-The Dalles) was elected to serve as deputy leader, and Representative Lynn Findley (R-Vale) will serve as whip.
Elected in 2018, Christine Drazan represents House District 39 which includes Canby, Estacada, Boring, and rural Clackamas County. Rep. Drazan’s interim committee assignments include Economic Development, Health Care, Joint Ways and Means Committee, Ways & Means Subcommittee on Education and the Emergency Board.
Drazan currently serves as a legislative representative to the Oregon Innovation Council and the Willamette Falls Locks Commission. She also serves as co-chair (with Democratic Rep. Jeff Reardon) of the newly formed, bipartisan Clackamas Caucus.
Rep. Drazan is a fourth generation Oregonian serving her first term in the Oregon Legislature. Professionally, Rep. Drazan served as the Executive Director of the Cultural Advocacy Coalition, a statewide nonprofit that supports the preservation of Oregon’s history and culture.
She is a member of the Clackamas County Planning Commission and a proud graduate of George Fox University. She and her husband Dan live in rural Clackamas County between Canby and Oregon City with their three children.
