In swimming, Oregon City visited Canby at the Canby Swim Center Thursday. The Cougar men came away with their first win of the season by a score of 97-67, while the Oregon City women defeated Canby with a score of 109-61. Overall, the Cougars competed well in each race and came away with a number of key victories.
On the Men’s side Connor DeRiso first in the 100 fly (1:01.74) and second in the 500 free (5:53.25), Hunter DeRisio finished first in the 100 back with a best time (1:01.92) and second in the 200 free (2:11.26). Jordan Spencer was first in the 200 IM (2:16.94) and second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.52) Bjorn Laitinen was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.15) and third in the 100 fly. Thomas Diggles finished second in the 50 and 100 free.
Jack Hayhurst finished second in the 200 IM and 100 back. Andrew Gautsche was third in the 500 free with a best time (6:47.93). Devin Bird finished third in the 200 free. Thijs Peperkamp earned a third place in the 50 and 100 freestyle. The Boys 200 Medley Relay of Jordan Spencer, Bjorn Laitinen, Connor DeRisio and Thomas Diggles finished first with a 1:52.32.
For the Women swimmers finishing in the top 3 were: Mairen Chard was first in the 50 (26.08) and second in the 100 Free (56.31). Halana Crispin third in the 50 free. Kira Goepferd finished second in the 100 fly (1:07.68) and 100 back (1:07.76). Erin Meredith finished third in the 200 IM. Alora Robbins finished second in the 500 Free (6:19.87) and third in the 200 free. Emma Vandecoevering finished third in the 500 free with a 7:09.33.
Up next will be the final dual meet of the season, Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Canby Swim Center with West Linn.
