Canby High School Theater will be collecting donations this week for their new “Hygiene Project.”
No, it’s not an intervention trying to get the guys at the Canby Now Podcast to take a shower. We’re grown men; we’ll shower when we feel like it, and not a month sooner.
No, this is a charitable effort collecting pads, basic toiletries and hygiene products such as deodorant, lotion, soap, shampoo, socks, etc.
They are only collecting products that are packaged, unopened and — I can’t believe this has to be said — unused. They are also not accepting tampons, unused or otherwise.
Donation drop off spots are by the front office at Canby High School and in the Canby Community Library. The items are part of a friendly competition between high school theater troupes across the state, and will ultimately go toward the JoinPDX shelter in Portland where they will be offered to women in need.
The Canby Thespians‘ goal is to collect items to help 500 women. Join is a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness by helping individuals and families transition to permanent housing.
