The Canby Cougar Dance team continued their dominance in the sport of fluid motion this weekend, wrapping up their fall competitive season at Lakeridge with a second-place second in kicks (a category they hadn’t competed in for five years), while becoming the back-to-back champions in the contemporary category.
If you think that’s impressive, they also won the modern competition for the eighth year in a row.
“Coaches are so proud of this team, how much they have grown together, their hard work, and dedication to each other,” head coach Jennifer Chaffee posted on Facebook. “We couldn’t do this without our amazing support system — parents, siblings, grandparents, family & friends — thank you for all your support, encouragement, and cheering us on!
“Shout out to all the amazing teams who make Oregon the best dance team state!”
The Cougs have long been a force to be reckoned with on the high school competitive dance scene: This March, the Canby Dance Team will be looking to earn their sixth straight state title.
