Take one new bake shop, one ribbon cutting and a community normally eager to rally around new businesses, and add equal parts global pandemic and the strict limits on the size of indoor gatherings intended to contain it. Throw in a dash of creativity, a generous helping of determination and bake at 100-plus degrees for a week straight.
What do you get? A “Day of Support” to celebrate the grand opening of B’s Bake Shoppe at the downtown Dahlia building this Saturday, Aug. 1.
“Due to coronavirus restrictions, we can’t throw a traditional ribbon cutting for their grand opening, so we are inviting all chamber members and community at large to come down to help give this new business a hearty Canby welcome,” Kyle Lang, director of the Canby Area Chamber of Commerce, tells the Canby Now Podcast. “B’s Bake Shoppe will be showcasing their regular items, from breads to pretzels to delicious chocolate creations, and will even have a couple of surprises on hand. So come down to B’s sometime on Saturday and make them feel at home.”
The Day of Support will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Chamber and community members are encouraged to come by, check out the new shop and its delicious creations, and — especially — don’t forget to take a selfie or photo of your order to share on social media and help spread the word.
B’s is Canby’s new, upscale, artisan scratch bakery, owned by professional baker and pâtissiere Bethany Zito and her sous chef husband, David. Its specialties include a variety of artisan breads, pastries that are (almost) too beautiful to eat, gourmet chocolate bars and other treats, soft pretzels and dip, housemade ice cream and savory items.
B’s Bake Shoppe is located at The Dahlia, next to Canby Gifts.
B’s Bake Shoppe is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Check out more of Bethany’s amazing creations on Facebook and Instagram.
