Ballots for May 21 Special District Election Go Out this Week

Clackamas County is urging Tyler Clawson, …and all other eligible voters, to make vote in the upcoming May 21 Special District election.

The voter registration deadline for new voters is tomorrow, April 30. Voter pamphlets were mailed out last week, and all ballots will be mailed to voters this Wednesday. All Clackamas County ballot drop sites will also open that day and will be available 24 hours a day until 8 p.m. on May 21, Election Day. The recommended last day to mail ballots is May 16.

According to the county elections office, this election is unusual because of the number of ballot combinations based on what’s being voted on and where the voter lives. In fact, there are 397 different ballot styles for this election, including 143 open positions on 45 different boards that oversee school, fire, water and miscellaneous districts.

Clackamas County wants voters to know that if they think their ballot does not match with what they think they should be voting on, they should contact the county by emailing elections@clackamas.us or calling 503-655-8510.

“We do everything possible to make sure each individual ballot is correct,” said Clackamas County Clerk Sherry Hall. “If you notice something in your ballot doesn’t seem correct, please contact us right away so we can make sure you have the correct ballot.”

In our area, we’ll be voting on several open seats on the Canby School Board, Canby Fire District Board, Aurora Fire District Board and more, depending on where you call home. The Aurora Fire District is also putting a new five-year operating levy before voters.

Drop-off locations for Canby are located outside the Canby Civic Building and Public Library on Second Avenue, and on Sequoia Parkway at Arneson Gardens, which is located behind Fred Meyer.
