The Clackamas Fire Defense Board has temporarily closed the backyard burn season until Friday, June 4th, amid a rash of high temperatures and low humidity that have combined to create extreme fire conditions.
The ban took effect at noon Tuesday, June 1.
Fire officials said they will reevaluate conditions Friday morning to determine a potential reopening for the weekend.
As a general reminder, recreational fires are highly discouraged during this time. If a fire is posing a threat to life or property, citizens are encouraged to call 911 immediately.
Refer all smoke complaints to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, or DEQ.
Agricultural permit holders are still allowed to burn during this closure.
