WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) — Four teenagers were taken into custody last week after leading deputies on a late-night pursuit through Hillsboro and Beaverton in a stolen vehicle, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
High-Speed Flight Through Neighborhoods
The incident began around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, when deputies attempted to pull over a 2019 Dodge sedan for a traffic violation near Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway and Southeast 48th Avenue in Hillsboro. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated, initiating a brief chase through residential areas.
The sheriff’s office later confirmed that the Dodge had been reported stolen out of Forest Grove. Deputies pursued the car as it weaved through several neighborhoods, before the suspects eventually abandoned the vehicle near Southwest 170th Avenue and Southwest Ivy Glenn Street in Beaverton.

Search Leads to Arrests
Shortly after the vehicle was found abandoned, a caller notified authorities of its location. Deputies quickly arrived on the scene, assisted by a K9 tracking unit and a drone team.
The coordinated search led officers to two of the teens on a nearby side street. The K9 then located the remaining two suspects hiding in bushes outside a residence, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office did not release specific details about how long the suspects were on the run, but deputies confirmed that the search covered multiple blocks and required air and ground support.
Juveniles Taken Into Custody
While officials did not disclose the exact ages of the four suspects, all were confirmed to be between 13 and 17 years old. The teens were taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Juvenile Department for processing.
At this stage, the sheriff’s office has not specified what charges the teens may face. Potential offenses could include unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, eluding law enforcement, and criminal trespass, depending on the investigation’s outcome.
Community Cooperation Praised
Authorities credited community members for their quick reporting, which helped deputies locate the stolen car and capture the suspects within hours.
“The public’s awareness and timely calls make a big difference in helping us resolve incidents like this safely,” a WCSO spokesperson said. “We’re thankful for the assistance of residents in the area.”
No injuries were reported during the pursuit or arrests, and deputies said no property damage occurred beyond the stolen vehicle itself.
Ongoing Investigation
The WCSO continues to investigate the circumstances of the theft and whether the teens were connected to other vehicle thefts or property crimes in the region. Deputies are reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements to piece together the timeline of events leading up to the pursuit.
Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or saw suspicious activity in the area to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 503-629-0111, referencing case number 50-25-14211.
As the investigation continues, the sheriff’s office emphasized that the case serves as a reminder of the growing number of juvenile-involved vehicle thefts in the Portland metro area—and the importance of residents keeping their vehicles secured and reporting suspicious behavior promptly.
