A 41-year-old Portland woman, identified as Alicia M. Long, died following an electric scooter crash with an SUV at the intersection of North Weidler Street and North Vancouver Avenue. The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on October 22, 2025.
The Collision
According to the Portland Police Bureau, Long was traveling westbound against traffic on North Weidler Street when she entered the intersection and was struck by a southbound SUV that had a green light. Officers who were nearby witnessed the collision and immediately called for emergency medical services.
Immediate Response and Hospitalization
Police officers provided medical assistance to Long at the scene before she was transported to a local hospital. Initially, her injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening, but her condition deteriorated overnight. She died the following day, October 23.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators. No arrests or citations have been announced as of now. Growing Concern Over Traffic Fatalities
Long’s death marks Portland’s 34th traffic-related fatality in 2025. Of these, five have involved bicycles or electric scooters, highlighting ongoing safety concerns for non-motorized and micro-mobility users on city streets.
City officials and safety advocates have continued to call for improved infrastructure, better lighting, and clearer traffic enforcement to reduce the number of serious collisions involving vulnerable road users.
