PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — After weeks of uncertainty, many Oregonians are finally seeing their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits restored. The long-awaited financial relief began appearing on electronic benefit cards late Thursday night, bringing much-needed support to families across the state.
Relief After Long Delays
Several Oregon residents contacted KATU to confirm that their benefits had been deposited, with one individual sharing a photo showing a balance of $748. The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) also confirmed the rollout on its official website, stating that full November benefits have now been issued.
According to the department, “People in Oregon who receive SNAP will see 100 percent of their November benefit amount beginning November 7, 2025.” This announcement marks the end of a stressful delay caused by the ongoing federal government shutdown—the longest in U.S. history.

Governor Kotek Responds
Governor Tina Kotek issued a statement condemning the federal delay, calling the Trump Administration’s move to withhold food assistance “cruel and unlawful.” She expressed gratitude to the federal courts for intervening and ensuring families received their rightful aid.
“Oregonians shouldn’t have to wait for a court order to get the help they qualify for and need,” Governor Kotek said. “I’m grateful to our state teams who worked through the night to make sure every Oregon family relying on SNAP could buy groceries today and through the weekend.”
A Lifeline for Struggling Families
SNAP, previously known as food stamps, provides essential assistance to low-income households for purchasing groceries. For thousands of families, these benefits serve as a vital safety net. The delay in November payments left many struggling to put food on the table, with community organizations reporting a spike in emergency food requests.
Now, with full benefits restored, relief is spreading through communities statewide. Many recipients say this funding comes just in time as grocery costs continue to rise and the holiday season approaches.
Moving Forward
ODHS has assured residents that future SNAP distributions are expected to continue on schedule. The agency emphasized its commitment to ensuring that no Oregonian goes hungry due to administrative or political gridlock.
For now, the reinstatement of benefits marks a moment of relief and justice for thousands who depend on the program every month.
