Oregon Officials Searching for Two Missing Brothers Believed to Be With Parents

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) is asking for the public’s help in locating two young brothers who went missing last week and are believed to be with their parents.

Missing Since September 4

Authorities say Carsyn Woolfolk, 5, and Abel Woolfolk, 7, disappeared on September 4 in Portland. Investigators believe the children may be with their mother, Josee Marie Pyshny, and father, Daniel Scott Woolfolk.

Officials have expressed concern for the boys’ safety and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Descriptions of the Children

ODHS released detailed descriptions of the two boys to help the public recognize them:

  • Carsyn Woolfolk: Age 5, nonverbal and on the autism spectrum. He is described as 42 inches tall, weighing about 40 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. His medical and communication needs increase the urgency of locating him quickly.

  • Abel Woolfolk: Age 7, described as 48 inches tall and weighing around 55 pounds, with brownish blond hair and blue eyes. Authorities noted that Abel has eczema and visible tooth decay, both of which may require medical attention.

Where They Might Be

Investigators believe the children and their parents are likely still in the Portland metro area or possibly across the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. Law enforcement agencies in both states have been notified.

Appeal for Public Assistance

ODHS has asked anyone who sees the children or their parents, or has information about their whereabouts, to call 911 immediately.

Additional tips and information can also be directed to the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline at 1-855-503-SAFE (7233). Authorities are handling the case under Gresham Police Department Case #25-37531.

Why the State Is Involved

The Oregon Department of Human Services is tasked with safeguarding children in cases where their well-being may be at risk. While ODHS has not released specific details about why the boys were reported missing, their involvement typically indicates concerns about health, safety, or custodial arrangements.

Community Urged to Stay Alert

Officials stress that community vigilance can play a critical role in finding missing children. Even small details—such as seeing a family that resembles the descriptions, noticing a vehicle, or hearing information through friends or neighbors—can help bring the boys home safely.

The department emphasized that any potential sightings should be reported right away rather than investigated by civilians, as law enforcement is best equipped to handle the situation safely.
