SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Revenue (DOR) announced that its Taxpayer Services Call Center and Salem Payment Center will be closed on Thursday, September 25, for staff training. The one-day closure will temporarily affect services for both individual taxpayers and practitioners.
Impact of the Closure
The shutdown means taxpayers will not be able to call for assistance or make in-person payments at the Salem facility on that day. Because the Salem Payment Center is the only location that accepts cash payments, customers who normally use this option will either need to delay their payment or choose an alternative method.
Taxpayers with large cash transactions may schedule an appointment online once the center reopens.

Options That Remain Available
Despite the closure, the department emphasized that several options remain open for customers:
-
Regional office front desks across the state will continue to serve walk-in customers.
-
Secure drop boxes at the Revenue building in Salem and at regional offices will be available for depositing payments and documents.
-
Other program-specific call centers will operate as usual, and contact information for these divisions can be found on the agency’s Contact Us webpage.
Encouraging Online Services
The Department of Revenue is encouraging taxpayers to take advantage of Revenue Online, its digital platform. Through the portal, customers can:
-
View official letters and notices
-
Make electronic payments
-
Submit questions to staff
-
File and manage certain tax services remotely
Officials note that Revenue Online provides a convenient and secure alternative for many routine services that would otherwise require a phone call or in-person visit.
Reason for the Closure
Department leaders said the temporary closure is necessary to provide staff training, which helps employees stay current on tax policies, system updates, and customer service practices. By investing in training, the department aims to improve accuracy and efficiency when serving Oregonians throughout the year.
Looking Ahead
The Taxpayer Services Call Center and Salem Payment Center are expected to resume normal operations on Friday, September 26. Taxpayers who may be affected by the one-day closure are encouraged to plan ahead, either by scheduling payments early or using digital and drop box alternatives.
