A new “No Kings” demonstration is set to take place in West Linn on Saturday, October 18, as residents once again gather to voice concerns over political polarization and the growing use of federal authority in Oregon.
Renewed Call for Constitutional Accountability
Earlier this summer, hundreds of protesters lined Highway 43 in West Linn for the first “No Kings” rally, which was organized in opposition to what participants described as executive overreach under President Donald Trump’s administration. The upcoming October protest is intended to reignite that message, focusing on unity, constitutional values, and resistance to what organizers call “authoritarian decision-making.”
The protest will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Salamo Road, just outside Safeway, and is expected to draw both returning participants and new supporters.

Organized by 50501 and Local Activists
The “No Kings” demonstrations are part of a nationwide movement led by the nonpartisan organization 50501, which says its mission is to “uphold the Constitution and end executive overreach.” According to the group, rallies have been organized in all 50 U.S. states, each reflecting local issues while connecting to a broader call for government accountability.
The West Linn event is being coordinated by Indivisible Clackamas, a local civic engagement group known for organizing peaceful protests and community discussions around democracy and civic participation.
Focusing on Division and Military Mobilization
Organizers say the October protest also aims to raise awareness about rising political division and the recent debates over military mobilization in Oregon, including the deployment of National Guard troops in response to demonstrations. Participants plan to use the event to promote dialogue and peaceful expression of dissent.
While no road closures are expected, attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring signs that emphasize unity and constitutional rights. Law enforcement agencies are aware of the event and will monitor the area to ensure public safety.
A Peaceful Stand for Democracy
Event organizers say the “No Kings” message is not partisan but rather a reminder that “no individual—regardless of office—stands above the Constitution.”
As tensions over federal and state authority continue to rise nationwide, the West Linn protest serves as both a symbolic and practical expression of civic engagement.
The rally will conclude at noon, with participants encouraged to continue conversations about democratic values within their communities.
