Ducks Favored by Nearly Four Touchdowns
The No. 7 Oregon Ducks enter Week 2 as significant favorites over Oklahoma State. Oddsmakers at Action Network list the Ducks as 27.5-point favorites, with an over/under of 58.5 points.
The opening line before Week 1 had Oregon favored by 23.5, but strong betting action and early results pushed the spread higher. As of Sunday afternoon, some sportsbooks had the line at 28.5, making it one of the largest point spreads among Power Four matchups this week.
Season Openers in Contrast
Oregon (1-0) is coming off a dominant start, rolling past Montana State 59-13 in its opener. The Ducks, favored by 28.5, covered easily and pushed the total over. Last season, Oregon was 7-7 against the spread (ATS), with totals splitting evenly between overs and unders.
Oklahoma State (1-0), meanwhile, struggled to separate from UT Martin in a 27-7 win. The Cowboys, favored by 26.5, failed to cover in a game that finished well under the 56.5-point line.
Quarterback Situation for Oklahoma State
The Cowboys face additional challenges entering Saturday’s game. Starting quarterback Hauss Hejny suffered a broken bone in his left foot and will miss several weeks. That leaves third-year freshman Zane Flores to take the reins.
Flores went 13-of-20 for 136 yards with three carries for eight yards against UT Martin. While efficient, he enters a difficult environment at Autzen Stadium facing one of the nation’s top-ranked teams.
Historical Context
Oklahoma State finished last season 3-9, but rarely suffered massive blowouts. Only once in 2024 did the Cowboys lose by more than 25 points, a 52-0 defeat to Colorado in the finale. In 2023, they dropped two games by at least 28 points and one more in 2022.
The Ducks and Cowboys have met just once before: the 2008 Holiday Bowl, when Oregon won 42-31 in a matchup of top-15 teams. Saturday’s game marks their first meeting in 17 years.
