YAMHILL COUNTY, Ore. – A tragic accident in Yamhill County claimed the life of a 66-year-old Newberg man on Monday evening, October 13, 2025. According to Oregon State Police (OSP), the man was struck and killed while walking in the roadway along Highway 240 near milepost 10.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 5:11 p.m. when officers received reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on the highway. The victim was identified as Larry Joseph Mervin Jacobs, 66, a resident of Newberg. Investigators say Jacobs was in the westbound lane when he was struck by a Toyota RAV4 traveling in that direction.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as 47-year-old Holly Mclain from Cornelius. According to authorities, Mclain remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. She did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
