Motorcyclist Killed in Late-Night Crash on Highway 26 Near Beaverton

BEAVERTON, Ore. — A motorcyclist was killed Monday night following a collision with a car on Highway 26 near Northwest 185th Street, authorities said.

According to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R), the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m., prompting a large emergency response from fire, police, and medical crews. When first responders arrived, they found significant damage to both the motorcycle and the car involved. Despite efforts by paramedics, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crash Investigation Underway

The Hillsboro Police Department is leading the investigation into the fatal crash. As of Tuesday morning, investigators had not released the identity of the victim, pending family notification.

Police have confirmed that no arrests or citations have been issued at this time. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine whether speed, impairment, or visibility played a role in the deadly crash.

Traffic Closures and Delays

All westbound lanes of Highway 26 were closed for several hours overnight while investigators examined the scene and crews cleared the wreckage. The closure caused significant traffic delays for late-night commuters.

By early Tuesday morning, the Oregon Department of Transportation confirmed that the highway had been fully reopened near NW 185th Street.

Community Reaction and Safety Concerns

This section of Highway 26, one of the busiest commuter routes between Beaverton and Portland, has seen a number of serious crashes involving motorcycles in recent years. Local safety advocates continue to urge both drivers and motorcyclists to remain alert and share the road responsibly, especially during nighttime travel when visibility is reduced.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the driver of the car or the events leading up to the collision. The Hillsboro Police and TVF&R are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to contact investigators.

This tragic accident adds to a growing list of fatal motorcycle collisions in the region this year, underscoring the risks riders face on Oregon’s major highways.
